Hello all, new forum member here. I've been hunting for a number of years but I've found I'm not as knowledgeable as I'd like to be. I thought I'd join and see what I can learn, get help on picking out my new rifle/scope, and just generally be a better hunter.

I look forward to interacting with you.

Default Welcome

Welcome Mike. What gun do you use at the moment and what type of game are you hunting? I like the .308. I hunt deer and pig and my .308 does a wonderful job. I use an over under scope, open site combo for a couple of reasons. One is the pretty dense jungle that I hunt in can be tricky when it comes to short range shots. Another is the beating my scope takes on the long and rugged hikes I often go on. So I like being able to fall back on my open sights if I need too. I have used a couple of different scopes in the past and my favorite so far Is the Nikon Buckmaster. It cost me around $300 with shipping and it has held it's zero very well.

Thanks all.

I have a level action 30-30 iron sights that I currently use but am researching a new rifle. Right now I think I've settled on a Remington 700 .308 but I'm still reading the various debates about the various brands, calibers, etc. etc.

I have a Nikon Buckmaster on my 12 gauge Prohunter Encore and am happy with it. I have not picked out the scope yet for my new rifle but will start that hunt soon.
