A 15.65 foot long Burmese Python has swallowed a 76 lb adult female deer in the everglades.The picture of the biologists performing the necropsy is in our local paper.It was put out by the National Park Service so its probably on the internet.Some people buy these nonnative snakes for pets and grow tired of them and release them in the swamp.

Yep,we have lots of nice critters running around down here.You know if it ate that deer it could just as easy eat YOU.Have hunted places that you were in knee deep black water as soon as you stepped out of your truck.I stuck a 6pt in that stuff and when it went down it was in chest deep water and as I was kickin around underwater for it my buddy says you must want it awful bad look over there.about 20ft away was a 10+ft gator.I decided he could have it

Where is Citra?We spend some time in FL near Palm Harbor.We have kids and grandsons there.

I know exactly where Citra is- I used to live in Crystal River, not too far away.
We practicly lived in the Everglades as kids, we lived in Hialeah at the time. Back then all you had to worry about was being bit by a water moccasin, now you have to worry about being swallowed whole by a python.

between Ocala and gainesville on hwy 301.I hunt in the Lochloosa wma,just a few miles from the house

You're near the" horse country".Its a pretty area.We drive down 301 on our way to Clearwater.

I grew up in Hialeah...we use to go fishing and hiking in the everglades all the time...loved the abunance of snakes everywhere. I hate to see that the natural order is changing...
