I use scents every time I am in the woods with great success. It is like anything else there is a learning curve on how , what, when, and where to use them. There are no magic potions out there just like there are no magic hammers that automatically drive nails perfectly every time. I personally use Maniac 150 with great success. As far as contaminating areas I think it is more of anti's trying to stir the pot. Scents have been used for thousands of years by hunters and indians to improve there success. My opinion is all of this new talk is just more political horse piles.

i believe that deer densities and competition play a great role in whether these products work or not. much in the same way calls or rattling work.

I wouldn't hunt the rut without estrus scent. I want every buck in area to think there's a hot doe just upwind a little. I always use two different estrus scents gives the bucks two courting does to find.

i don't use scents much or anywhere as much as i use to. i will do the mock scrape thing or fire up an existing scrape. i just don't have the confidence in them that some folks do. it may come back to that deer density thing causing a poor showing from scents.

here in ny i usually wont start using scents till around halloween.ive always had the best luck between nov6th/nov12th
