talking about this years Canadian fishing trip. Only problem is we need a boat as we have sold off our boats last two years. We'll see maybe?

I don't know if this will work for a boat but it does work for fishing rods.
You are sitting reading an Orvis Catalog and the wife looks over your shoulder and sees the cheapest rod starting at say 800 or 900 $. The first comment is probably going to be, we can't afford to get a fishing rod that is that expensive! Good she bought into that. A few days later when she walks by you are reading a Bass Pro Catalog. You just happen to be in the Fenwick rod section so you call her over and show her the 149$ rod and mention, well you are probably right about that expensive rod this one is much cheaper and will do the same job. She then looks at you and says, I'm glad you came to your senses, you should buy that one. After she goes in the kitchen you give a good quiet fist pump and rejoice that you got the rod you really want to start with. Hey don't laugh it might work! lol

not too big into fishing. I enjoy it though... used to fish all the time by myself on a neighbors pond. Didn't catch much, just mostly crappie. Stupid question for ya'll: my father-in-law has a fully stocked catfish pond. What's the best bait for them? Pond's not that big. Maybe 1/2 acre.

take bread slightly wet it and make it into a hard ball put the hook in it and using a large bobber hooked up short 3' to the dough ball, and then hang on the cats will fight over it. If the bread falls apart too soon then you need to compact it more. On our Canada fishing trips we go after 20 + lb pike. Hooking one of these monsters is like hooking to the back of a Jeep and trying to stop it, then the fish comes straight back at you faster than you can reel, then it all starts over with a giant run away. This last 10-20 minutes. I compare a 25 lb pike caught and released to a trophy buck that's how much fun it is. Fishing trip vs hunting trip it's all the same. Giant pike fishing is just like stalking for deer slow quiet, it does kill the shoulder though after 200 casts or more per day. Mix in a few eagles, bears, moose, cold beverages and man what a trip. I started going to Canada in 1971.

My kind of trip HM.You could try cans it'll be easier on your neck and shoulders.Since my neck injury i have made the swicth to cans exclusively and find my arm less fatigued.
