Question Trying to make sence of scents !

I appreciate the help all you have given, but just a few more questions. If scents are so important does it mean you can't drink coffee in the blind or eat a sandwich. surely coffee could be detected if deer are that sensitive. What about about all the scents on the market to attract deer, doe urine, Tinks, Code Blue, ect. do they work? do they help to cover up the bad scents?
Thanks, Charlie

Special Golden Estrus works great. And you do not want to put it on yourself, so no it doesn't cover up the bad smells. Estrus scents and buck scents basically only work when the deer are in the rut. I'm sure eating a sandwich and drinking coffee would probably be fine...I sometimes eat a candy bar or something and I bet the deer cant even smell it. Spray your clothes and boots down with scent killer before you enter the woods though.

some scents work some don't or at least some work much better than others.

"Wind" is the element that delivers the scent to the deer, if you have little to no wind once your in your stand it isnt going to hurt too much to have a coffee or a bite to eat. a regular coffee with Cream and sugar isnt as stinky as a flavoured coffee like hazelnut or chocolate bean flavors etc etc etc...
IF you're really trying to be scent free just use a common sense apporach and avoid all of it and just go with water instead of coffee and crackers instead of a sandwich..
Good Luck

I agree with brucebruce... just use your common sense. If I'm bow hunting, I don't bring anything to eat in the field b/c I want to be as close to the deer as possible, but if I'm rifle hunting, my stand is set up far enough, and high enough away so that the deer probably aren't going to smell my sandwiches or i like to take almonds, pecans, cashews to the field. Just stay away from the food that has alot of odor.

Dont feel you need everything you see or feel overwhelmed with all the stuff out there.like the guys said first and foremost is watch the wind.now one thing i dont consider a product but an essential is scent killer spray. always spray down.scents work sometimes, sometimes not but i do blieve some are better than others.the golden estrous is good stuff, code blue, buck bomb and i personally like still steaming.you use these at the right time and sometimes they come thru for you.
