I am just wondering what kind of hunting bags your using. And what's in them. I'm using a field line. I always have my first aid kit. Rescue blanket. Matches. Game bag. Field dressing gloves. Scentaway. My calls. 2 pair of binos. Atlease 2 knives. Flash light. Blood light. Gps. Blm maps. Compas. Extra batterys. Ammo. Some beef jerky. Power bars. And the bag has a bladder in it. For my water.

different bags for different seasons. I seem to carry the biggest and most stuff in archery. Pretty lean for rifle and ML.

The search for the perfect bag is eternal. A couple of years ago, I bought a bag similar to the military butt pack (bag with belt and shoulderstraps that rides on the top of your butt). It still gets in the way when packing the climber. But there's too much stuff for my pockets and can't decide what to leave at home......

I've had several, including the Field Line which I like because the one I have can be seperated into a back pack or fanny pack if you want to use them seperately. I also have a Crooked Horn Outfitters back pack type which is great, but a little pricey. Lately, I've been trying to move away from packs to vests, and I have two - a Cabela's and a Primos. The Primos is really nice as it is in the design of a fly-fishing vest with pockets for everything. This is good for me because (at my age) I always forget where I put stuff. This way, I know the flashlight is in the flashlight pocket, etc. I also like jackets with lots of pockets for the thinkgs I might take that I don't need to get to quickly. Current jacket is a Medalist.

i'll bet you don't miss/forget much, onehorse.

i use the fieldline backpack fanny pack combo thing. but then again i hang my stands prior to the season or if i'm hanging a stand during the season i'm not sitting it that day. when i hunted in md i put the pack on then the stand with my warmer clothes hooked into the stand.

Me bein an old guy, I thought this year about weighin my pack...loaded. Just to see what I'm luggin around. Any of you ever done that?

Ron, I have tied it on the climber, along with extra clothes, and humped it "back in" but that is a chore. I keep thinkin there must be a better way. I thought this year I'd weigh it all up and try to condense but I'm half afraid to put it all on the scales

I've thought of doing that too, but don't have the guts to do it!
Most places I hunt don't allow motor vehicles, so I use a game hauler to get animals out. Occasionally, if I'm going way in, I'll take the hauler in with me and use it to pack in my hunting stuff. I'll leave it at a place not too far from where I intend to hunt. That way, if I get something, I don't have to walk all the way back to get the hauler then back to get the animal and then back the the truck. Even if you are only two miles in, that could be a total of 8 miles of walking!
