I know what your talking about ,the taxidermist that did mine goes to the trouble of inserting hairs into the nostrils and adding dew droplets on each one. The eyes are the best competition eyes and the eye lids are perfect. Longevity means a lot and I have seen some of her work from ten years ago and its still perfect.

I have some that are pushing 15. It makes a difference for your viewing enjoyment now and way down the road. The day will come when I can not hunt any longer but I can look at all of them and relive every moment as if it was yesterday. They all will continue to bring a smile to my face. The hunt is as important to me as the air I breath. Kind of feel I owe it to them. Sounds silly I'm sure.

Speaking of attention to detail, a few years back I shot a mule deer whose left ear was split almost the whole length. It really gave him character. When I took it to the taxidermist, he had never mounted one like that but he said he would try. He got it done and didn't cost anything extra. Anybody ever had something like that done and did it cost you extra?

A buck I shot 2 years ago had a prominent cut on his forehead and scare on his left eye from fighting. I told my taxidermist to save them because it gave him character. He did it for no charge even though he thought I was crazy. He later agreed with me after it was finished.

Thats how I would want it as well. Gives it a more real look.
