I highly recommend a game camera and feeder. I have a picture of a monster that keeps me from hitting the snooze and it is nice to see a pattern on what the deer are doing and when they are doing it. Corn feeder works well too if it is legal in your area.

one big thing i noticed is that you were talking about sprying down your cammies, and huntin near were you are stationed. assuming this means you are in the millitary... one thank you for your service, two do not were your BDU's hunting. the amount of cemicals your dry cleaner uses pluss the heavy starch you use to press them will spook the deer even if you spray down. you are better off wereing blue jeans and a tee shirt than your BDU's. also you are in the right place. your backround is verry simmiler to mine. my mom would not let me hunt till i was 18 and she couldnt stop me any more. i spent several years learning to hunt the hard way. trial and error, and beleave me there were many errors. i read books that tought me little more than the hunting "lingo". i have been on this sight for about 4 or 5 months now and have learned more in that time than i ever did reading books or just sitting on some randome ridge hopeing to see a deer. good luck to you and welcome to DHC
