back on subject. yea when the trees are dropping its unnerving. I use the wind to hunt. yup, a still hunt may be the best choice for a couple reasons. one you can get away with a little more movement, strong winds are typically steady in direction, you get to scout. When I say I use the wind, i use it to tell me where to hunt. the leeward side of hills, tight bottoms, wait I mean low lying areas that are more protected from the winds. I also think about a wind break, a stand of low hanging soft woods. i think about the direction of the wind the leeward side of the wind break near the edge for visibility. better yet those areas that have 10 to 20 foot hemlock right to the ground spaced out about 15 feet apart with big oaks growing in amogst them. the deer are still there. they aren't in caves, although some soft wood stands are like caves. deer get nervous in wind and end up moving from here to there cause they may be scared here and think its safer over there. just the way i see it

| | I really dont think you need the calls,, just be patient, the calls may be busting you....
it's a great day out there today, after lunch (if you can stand the weather that long) get back out there because
like ronn said today is supposed to be a "PEAK" day for deer moving about... Good Luck

| | I'd stick with the spot that's showing you the most sign/activity.
