Default Scouting

I was out checking on some spots I plan to bow hunt this year and I found an abandoned apple orchard loaded with deer sign,I know it's on public land but whe walk in is 1.5mi on the GPS.Also saw some turkeys.

feed is going to be a big question this year as some areas have gotten so much rain and others are in a drought that something like an orchard in early season might just be the ticket. I'm going to call PA tomorrow to see if or what the food plots did. PA got a whole bunch of rain from spring through summer.

I'm headed to pa in a couple weeks, not this coming weekend but the one after, to set cameras for a couple days and scout. my buddy has been hunting this place for years. little to no hunting pressure from what he tells me. heh we'll see whats new

we haven't had any bow hunting pressure for 10 years and almost no rifle hunters in PA. I don't see any kids tagging along with dad or grampa anymore, a sign of the electronic times I guess.

it a good thing the pressure is low.

no kids, thats not good. on a positive note I'm seeing more and more hunting stuff geared toward women. years ago i read this article about the decline of hunting and it was said that getting women involved was the key to getting the kids back. hope this is true.

there is also acorns nearby what do you think they will go after first oh yeah and the apples are starting to fall a little bit.

I would think the apples as a treat then white oak acorns and last red ones.
