I am a noob to this forum. I wanted to take am minute and say hi before I start picking your brains about hunting. my name is Jeff and I am in Central Virginia. If anyone out there is local to my neck of the woods, definitely pm me.

My biggest problem at the moment is that I have no friends that hunt. Our state has implemented the "Hunters Apprentice" program that encourages people to get a short term (2 year) learners license that is kind of like having a drivers learners permit. I tell all my friends that they could get it and come with me, but so far, only one person has gone with me. I have been hunting for 4 years now and have only ever shot at squirrels. Mainly, I hope to meet up with folks that can help me learn better hunting skills and possibly take me out with them for some real hunting experience.

I am glad to have found this forum and I hope to learn and share what I learn with the community as I go.

welcome. there all brands of deer hunters on here with tons of info. I run va (81 to salem) a couple times a year but yet to hunt there. got some friends that do and friends of friends that fish. they live around charlottesville. lots of public land. ask away and jump in where ever.

You guys hunt Buffalo up there, don't ya? I hear that you can feed a family of 6 for 2 years on just one Buffalo. Is that true?
