Default Cwd

Sorry to report CWD has been found in a third location in Pennsylvania. Its in a deer farm in Jefferson county. The new disease management area involves Jefferson and Clearfield counties.

That is not good I have no problem with deer farms if they are managed correctly not my type of hunting but to each is own & CWD is not something to get out to the natural herd

Concentrating deer spreads disease and deer farms concentrate deer. Also, they trade deer between farms.Thats what brought the disease to the eastern U.S.I can't believe the authorities did not clamp down on them long ago.The farm deer had contact with wild deer through openings in fences.I saw one farm that covered their fence with tarps to prevent this.

Farming deer is now and always has been an extremely poor idea but when you have so many wannabe hunters willing to support such nonsense, This is what we end up having to deal with.
I've never been a fan of deer farms, caged hunts or outfitter services While some outfitter services are very legit and actually do provide an ethical hunting experience for hunters there are far too many others that just take money from shooters that enjoy shooting trapped game animals and call themselves hunters ! kind of a shame in my opinion.
The States dealing with CWD have profited by way of permits/fees from the farms where the CWD came from but sadly when it happens the states whine when having to deal with it without realizing they are equally responsible as the farms themselves. JMHO

The thing that ticked me off was a statement by an officer of a deer farming association. He said"When the wild deer are gone, the hunters will have to patronize our operations."The authorities who allow the transport of farmed deer are playing right into this scenario.
