Well I was fortunate to take a nice buck this year, I have not had any luck trying to take a doe. Seems like when I want to hunt for bucks all I see are does and when I am hunting for does, all I see are bucks. I've always thought that!

I am lucky enough to live very close to the Tn/Ky border and have places to hunt in both states. The way the seasons ran this year, I ended up having rifle season(s) for about 9 consecutive weeks (still ongoing). I lucked out fairly early in Ky, but Tn has been kicking my butt. Only two small bucks seen so far.Of course, the Tn bag limit is 3 bucks (any size) and 3 does a day for the entire season with me seeing no quality deer. I see truckloads of deer in Ky (shot the 13th buck I'd seen), but bag limit is one buck and one doe. I'll look to shoot my doe this coming weekend when the late M/L season begins.I do feel lucky to have gotten a nice buck in Ky, but also frustrated at my worst season in Tennessee in a long, long time (forever?).
My sympathies guys.I've been there. My most recent dry spell was the last two years.Feeling the need for venison,I applied for doe tags in three management areas.I also have a statewide buck tag.As luck would have it,I took 2 doe and a 6 PT buck.Your luck will change if you keep at it.

It's been a rough season in Kansas. I've gotten a couple smaller antlerless deer with my bow and hubby got one nice sized doe with his bow. He made a bad shot on a buck and fed the coyotes and eventually got the rack when the guy on the neighboring property found him. Rifle season is kicking our butt. Either we're in the wrong place at the wrong time or the deer are directly in front of us and we have operator error with the guns (guns jamming, missed shots, and one of the gals with us had a wrong bullet in her gun. Thank god it didn't blow up!) or the deer are right in front of us where we can't shoot. Hubby and I are going to take a drive out to our farm tonight and put out corn and see if we happen to see something on our property there. If not rifle season ends tonight and it's back to our bows until January first when it's rifle season for does.

called PA today for final rifle season report. With 8-10 hunters only a doe and button were shot. Weather played a part but this is what I saw in bow season. Hopefully, next fall is better.

Congrats on killing a nice buck. How big was your buck. My brother and I both killed bucks on the second saturday of gun season. I killed a young 7 pt prolly 1 1/2 year old and my brother killed a nice 8 pt. It should have been a 10 pt but 1/2 of rack was broke off one side. It was a nice mature deer.
