I learned a tremendous amount this year through every avenue I could find besides being in the woods. I was forced to scout this way due to a spinal injury and funds. Though it was difficult in the beginning as "I was born before the computer age" it was all worth it. If asked now I would say with a smile, yes I can give you advice how to do that. I asked the forum how to make a scrape, not because I don't know how, but those are the street smart things of our sport as are most. But if asked today how to hunt Whitetail or any other animal I would for sure say. 1 Knowledge: Map reading, Animal biology, Meteorology, Wildlife management, and Hunting laws. 2 Street smart: Hiking, Range time, Forums DHC. Experienced family and friends, Hands on experience and others. The message here and I hope to not offend is the knowledge is right in front of you and not in the box you may at the moment be stuck in. As always have fun and be safe.

Gotta do whatever it takes to learn.

ya we all are learning everyday through some kind of format. That's why the great outdoors is my #1 achievement by the big guy. However, nothing beats getting the boots on and covering ground and seeing for yourself how the puzzle all fits together. A computer is one tool but cannot make a hunter by sitting at one.
