This may be a very dumb question,,, but do deer eat/like hickory nuts? And if so, how much? I do not have ANY hickory trees where I hunt, but I have 3 very mature hickory trees in my yard and normally I rake up the nuts and shells and burn them with my leaves. Today, however, I had an idea.... I wonder if deer eat these or like these? I realize deer love acorns the best, but was wondering about hickory nuts. Any comments welcome.
Regardless, I wouldn't burn them. Take them with you on your scouting or hunting walks and drop them so they grow and propagate. Hickory nuts make good food for lots of other critters.
great ideas and comments everyone- thanks guys I really appreciate it!
