Ticks and chiggers
Guys I got a report from the owner of the land we're going to hunt that it is totally infested with ticks and chiggers, therefore we won't be hunting there til about 1 Oct. Eastern shore MD. Anyone else have the super infestation? Where are you hunting?

I don't know about super infested but some of the areas we hunt are bad with ticks
it used to be very rare to get a tick on you up untill 5-10 years ago
now I usually pull a few off me every spring - fall hunt

In PA where I hunt the ticks are real bad. Usually have several on me at any given time. The deer may have up to 50-75 ticks on them so we just skin and butcher before we head home. I don't leave camp without spraying tick killer on my clothes. These are the red legged ones, very small and carry the lyme disease potential. The larva are like a grain of pepper and also can carry the disease. I HATE TICKS! :boxing:

We got them here to, but for spring turkey and my deer scouting all I do is give myself a good lotion bath and they stay off but when my early bow hunt comes in I'm back to the permonon spray from waist down.
If you own or lease a place you can go to your local southern states or farm/agg supply and get a tic spray to treat your ground. I have also went in to my ground spots and sprayed them a week or so before I plan to hunt that spot.
Yeah, they're bad in southcentral PA.I use 40% deet every time I go out in the hunting area.
