Wind

1. I have rarely known anything to stop deer during the rut. I have seen tornado conditions where bucks are still chasing and busting does. It actuallyl would help a hunter because light to mild wind can more your estrus scents around and that will cause bucks to wander around more because of the scent being dispersed throughout an area.

2. Wind is good in my opinion because the wind will help move your scent past many deer. If you hunt in a bottom or valley, often a stronger wind will move your scent out of the area rather than letting it linger.

I have seen deer move heavily during winds from 8-25 mph....any higher than that and 1. I dont like to be 20+ ft up in a tree and 2. Rarely see activity in any animals.

Good post above and i agree. i went yesterday morning and the wind was terrible. i don't think that i could have made an accurate shot if a deer had walked infront of me though. my stand is on a pine tree and this joker could have been a ride at six-flags. the winds were gusting at 20-25 mph and felt like 60 mph when i was in that tree.

Good Hunting!!

best to be hunting the ground in winds like that

Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison.
Genesis 27:3 "The thinking deer hunter should mature through three phases during his hunting life. First phase, "I need to kill a deer." Second phase, I want to harvest a nice deer. And last phase, we must manage this resource so our children and their children can experience the grand tradition of good deer hunting." - Jim Slinsky
