My son has been trying to talk me into doing a bear hunt together before I call it quits. He would shoot his bow, I think I'd like to shoot a ML. Does anyone have suggestions as to a good outfitter, Maine, Canada?
never been a bear hunter
I am going to an outdoor show this weekend & am sure I can get some contacts for you
will let you know Sun. or Mon.
Now HM you know I don't ever promote outfitter services but because it's you asking, I'll direct you to the best one in all of Maine, the outfitter is "Cedar Ridge Outfitters", owned and operated by Hal Blood and his wife Debdie.
I assure you Hal is hands down the best Bear guide you'll ever meet. You can find all kinds of info about HaL and his hunting history in almost every place you look, he's written books, has video's, operates as a guide,
I met him once at a Sports show, a heck of a nice guy with a great reputation in the industry.
Here's a few links that you might be interested in looking at.. Good Luck

Thanks guys, this is a trip that will be long planned and maybe a one time event. My buddy in PA is hooked on bear hunting and has taken about 6 of them right near his home. They were not baited in any way, it's not legal to bait in PA. I also would love to Caribou hunt one time, opps this is starting to sound like a bucket list :surprised:, no not yet, just a few things I'd like to hunt.
would Love to do an Elk or Caribou hunt before I leave this earth too but they are way out of my price range. swo I have a feeling I will be sticking to deer hunting here & in NY
I've seen and heard of many great Maine outfitters and many great black bears coming out of these parts. Baiting gives you a good selection and good shot opportunity. Instead of taking the first bear that walks by you can be selective and careful with baiting.....bears make great Italian sausage as well.
