What area of PA will you be hunting? I hunt the Clearfield area, North central PA off I-80.

Hello and welcome.I have hunted southcentral PA since the 1960's.Lots of changes over the years. In the area I hunt, the success rate is much higher on private farmland than in the state gamelands and forests. But its hard to get permission to hunt.We have had liberal doe seasons recently which has reduced the herd.At the same time antler restrictions have increased the size of the average buck.So we're shooting fewer deer but bigger deer.Look at the harvest figures from the PA game commission to get an idea of the odds.Good Luck

Thanks for the input 3212.. I know one buddy from work just got his first deer in 4 seasons, his brother has only gotten 1 ever, he's 21.. The 2 guys I mentioned earlier, the avid hunters & fishermen get at least one a year.. I think experience, knowledge and dedication probably play a huge role. I hope to get one this year with "beginners luck" but I'm not holding my breath. lol
