Default Whistling deer

The other day a buddy and me were doing a little coyote hunting, we spooked 4 does and two fawns. They run off about 100yrds and the does began whistling back and fort to each other in short, very loud tweet sounds. I have heard this is the woods before and thought it was a bird but I saw these deer with my own eyes. Just wondering if anybody else out there has experienced this and could this be used as a call to attract deer?

I think you are refering to a deer's "blow". This is not an attempt to attract deer nor should it be used by hunters. This is a distress call to warn other deer in the area there is potential danger. The blowing is short sounds that are somewhat loud and high pitched.

They were blowing also but the whistleing noise they were making was more like they were trying to call to the fawns, one large doe was blowing and stomping and another doe would make a sharp tweet sound and the the fawn would answer it with the same sound. This went on until the fawns were back with the does.

I have seen that a time or two also. The strangest thing Ive ever seen them do is bark like a small dog thats being strangled is the best way to describe it. I had about 8 deer out in front of me and decided to take one of the bucks. I stuck the buck with an arrow he went down and all the others ran from 30-50yds and started barking. I could still see them while doing this. they would look around and bark.they did this for several min. then the blowing and stomping started and they all drifted off.
