First off thanks for taking the time to read through this, you won't regret it. I am considering building a website tailored to hunters. Below is the website description and at the very bottom is a link to a survey that will help me determine if this is something worth building.
The purpose of this website is to be a hunter's one-stop website. Currently if you are like most of the online hunting community, once you get home from work and you sit on your computer/tablet/smart phone you have a hit list of sites you enjoys looking at. Craigslist, duckhuntingchat, bowfishingcountry, Ducks Unlimited etc... So what if there was a sight that had EVERYTHING. SO if this possibly sparks your interest please read on and complete the survey to help make it happen.
Now for the nuts and bolts:
The final vision will be a smartphone app, but first a website to make it easier to make modifications aftertesting and user survey.
From a home screen there will be a variety of pages available to navigate to:
Bragging board- This is a social media page much like instagram or pintrest. This is a page where users can post their pictures of what they harvest or catch, i.e a picture of a deer or a fish. They have the option to post their own pictures and harvest information or view what others have posted. These post should be able to be sorted by geographical region, distance from user, species etc...
Classified section- this page is much like Craigslist. The difference being that only articles related to hunting or fishing are allowed.
Scouting- this page will show all the "reports" sent in through other users, not necessarily what they killed. So if you are familiar with the ducks unlimited app it will be much like that, except in more detail. For example, if Joe goes out on a duck hunting trip in south Arkansas he can log onto the site and post on his personal page, what he saw and how successful he was. When other users look on the reports page they will see that someone in south arkansas shot "x" number of ducks on "x" date and the conditions were x,y,z.
Users personal page- this is where people will input what they saw or harvested while they were out hunting. When the user inputs the date and location it will link up with outside sources that brings back the weather, moon phase, barometric pressure etc... The user can you this as their own personal blog, they can keep it private or share with others. Reports can be generated to give a snapshot of the hunters season.
***This is where the website will be set apart from others.***
From all the information the user inputs and the website retrieves from other sources and algorithm will be ran to forecast success rates for future dates. Much like the app "huntcast" that uses the moon phase to determine animal activity. Except this forecasting model will go much deeper and is personalized for each user.
There are so many different layers to this website that it is hard to summarize, but hopefully you get the concept of it, in that it combines all of the most popular sites/app into one.
Here is the link to the survey, only ten questions and super quick!
