Here they are now
The TWRA changed the laws reference hog hunting several months ago, no longer allowing hunters to shoot them on private lands without a special permit. Smart, they ain't, since they also announced that they wanted to eradicate them within the state. Well one of my hunting Buddies saw one in our county a few weeks ago while fishing on the cumberland river about 6-7 miles from where we have a good spot for deer right along the river.
He took this picture and also told me he figured him to be 350 or so. Second picture is a hog another friend took this past January that went 260. When I asked if he was sure it was a good bit bigger than that one, he simply said "oh yeah!" He also has a 300 pounder to his credit, so he's pretty familiar with comparative sizes.
So, I may have to hit up the landowner to see if he'll go through the bother of getting me a permit (stupid state!) if I start seeing them at the lease site.
