Too much 40. recoil

Can someone tell me how to reduce, or get use to my dad's 40.cal glock. I have seen things online saying "Start out with a low-caliber gun", but we have no low caliber gun!I really want to start shooting it!I'm gonna ask him if we can go to the range today. But really, can someone please tell me how to reduce or get use to handgun recoil?

interesting, I have two unfired 40 cals to shoot this spring I hope the recoil isn't too bad.

Ya,if you are use to recoil it might not be that bad.But if you are as recoil-sensitive as I am,it can be a problem.

Looking on line for green lasers for the 40 cals right now, my Christmas to me. I have a couple of 45cals full frames and the recoil is not bad. The 40 cals are polymer frames and might be a bit light and give some kick??

Federal makes Low recoil ammo for the .40 cal & I am sure others make it as well
"Start out with a low-caliber gun" If looking for a new gun becareful what you think is a low recoil gun
as HM stated full frame vs Polymer makes a difference
with that said I had a polymer Ruger .380 LCP that would like to rip your wrists off but my .45cal 1911 feels more like a .22 compared to that little .380 so don't think a small round will have less recoil it depends on the "package" you are putting that bullet into

I would suggest having someone very familiar with handgun shooting show you a good grip. I have a .40 cal glock, and a lcp .380...neither one seem to have an unreasonable amount of recoil when held correctly. Grip makes all the difference. Find someone to show you a proper grip and I'm sure you can handle it... my 10 year old nephew has shot both of mine with no problems. Good luck!

Flexj I could never get a good grip on that LCP even with small hands was funny too recoil went almost sideways one of the only Rugers I dislike shooting
