Food plot help

Hey guys, I got a few questions that I hope yall can answer. First, I hunt in southeast Texas. Anyone from around here know what works? Second, when should I plant? Bow season doesn't open til October so keep that in mind. Last, I don't have a lot of land, are plot around 30x30 too small?

oats planted late Aug early sept do great in NE Arkansas
with the plot on the smaller side , plant it thick & and add a bag of chicken litter or fertilizer

i hear good things about lablab from my friends in texas. also, chicory is pretty drought tolerant and is great for pulling nutrients from the soil. both are high in protien and do ok on carbs. any size plot will attract deer, small plots just attract less deer. and id say mid to late august for the planting. your growing season is long enough that they'll grow into november, and chicory hits its prime around september 20th here in va.
