| | Food Plot question
I want to make a small staging food plot about 25 yards inside the woods (mainly pine) from a power line which appears to be a late evening/early AM/nocturnal feeding site. Lots of trails heading that way. Since bucks, in my experience, seldom come out into the open before dark, I'm trying to set something up en route that they may frequent earlier.
The area is about 25 yards long and 10 yards wide. In pine woods but in a somewhat open area with adequate sunlight. Can't give much information about soil type/quality. Upper state SC.
What would you plant? When? Technical tips if you can't get a tractor/tiller into the area - I'm guessing a hoe/rake will be the answer to that one....
Very little experience with food plots in general so any advise would be greatly appreciated.
