TURNIPS! Once you see that your early crop is being eaten down and there's not much left... get in there and disc up the ground and plant you some turnips. Do this around mid to late August or even early to mid Sept (depending on the weather you had all summer long). Turnips will provide great snacks for the deer in november and december and once it turns REALLY cold, they will be back to dig up the actual turnips under ground and eat them things like crazy! Don't worry about the ground freezing hard ,,, the deer will still get the turnips out.
