really late plots If I can get some much needed time off next month or early August I'm thinking of trying a fall plot of something. This would be for PA and need to mature for the deer to utalize this fall. Any suggestions? I've never tried a late planting and not really sure if I will pull it off but... |
i got this seed called quick stand no till forage from plotspike seed. its tetraploid rye grass, rape and annual crimmson clover. in pa it says plant aug1 to oct31. pa being the far north of the its zone for nh it say july15 to sep 15. 20 lbs per acre. now i haven't tried it but its suppose to be really quick growing. for what its worth. i got it for pa but didn't get it out. i think i got it at tractor supply. oh it still says for best results do the plot thing with tests, lime, and fertilizers. ya know food plot things. |
I would also say rye. My dad always planted it in Sep. here in MI. |
Thanks, I think this year we'll try some small plots with things like throw & grow or rye. I have a Tractor suppy 5 minutes from my house to see if they have what you purchased ronn. |
well hm what did you find? anything good? |
Just got the weekend off and heading into town this morning. Tractor supply is on the list. |
With that blend be careful - there is a big difference in ryegrass vs. cereal grain rye. Deer do not eat ryegrass hardly at all, unless they are near starving. |
