PA foog plot planting.

If you (lived in PA) and were going to plant a late August food plot what would you plant. I have the latest Whitetail Institute flyer and they have a few suggestions, just curious what you guys might add. The soil is a yellow clay mix and will be fertilized at planting. I should have plenty of time to get a good cover plot planting late August.

Thumbs up Pa food plots

Hunting man, I too live in Pa. and have had great success with Whitetail Institutes (Pure Attraction). The turnips get as big as softballs if they get enough rain. Also includes Wheat for fast cover crop. Like all Brassicas they need a couple frosts to bring sugers into leaves. Make sure to do soil test, you will probably need lots of lime.

Ps, you may want to mix some Red & White clover in.

Jeff.

thanks. Years ago I did plant brassicas and did well but I planted them in June so I thought I'd need to come up with something for late planting this year. Lime is always needed where I hunt low soil ph. Living in western Ohio makes getting stuff down in central PA is always a pain and costly endeavor. I have some leftover clover still growing but mostly weeds now. I probably will go with a blend pf seeds for this year.
