Food plot?
 

I am new to this forum, I have a ranch in Hardin
Texas just coming off the trinity river bottom (monster bucks)
I am eating to hunt the back of it with a bow.
I want to know what food plot i should plant?
I want it to be relatively tall so the deer feel
Safe. What food plot would be tall and atract deer, that I
could plant soon here so that it grows and stays adequit
All year.?

Well, what food plot in general, is tall like 3 foot?

Brassicas get about knee high but are only attractive after a frost which raises the sugar content in the plant. If you have any drought conditions forget about planting. Deer will eat anything so I wouldn't worry about the height of the plants. Buying a couple of auto-feeders spacing them around your property may be more cost effective. Corn will draw deer and give them carbohydrates. If you do plant food plots get a soil ph check, fertilize after you get the soil check so you know what type of fertilizer to buy. With enough rain, clover is by far the best at drawing deer in. With proper care clover should give you about 4 years before you have to re-plant. Over seeding in the spring probably makes sense too.

My experience with feeders in east Texas
is that they don't work. Every deer feeder I've had, I haven't
seen any deer go to. We have heavily wooded forests that
are loaded with oak trees so they eat lots of acorns.
I'm looking for a food plot that is tall and that deer love. And will draw them
out in during the daytime hours, the reason I want a tall plant is
so they feel comfortable to come out during the day, to make them feel like they
have cover, something that's tall but won't block a shot with a bow.

Something I could plant like at the end of February.
So it will grow tall by bow season.
