Any one doing any striper fishing this season yet, they say that they run about the end of February in TN a friend of mine caught a five pounder a few weeks ago but it seems like things have slowed down a lot any tips?
What do yall use for bait?

i have not been fishing for striper lately, but live bait is always the most consistent choice in catching them. Use big gizzard shad and skipjack herring for your big daddy stripers. You also want your bait to be fresh caught. Not the half dead bait you buy at your local gas station on your way to lake.
If your going to throw artificial bait also, do it only in early morning or late when the sun is down. Use your live bait when the sun is high. If im throwing artificial bait in the morning my choice would be a soft jerk bait or a big shallow diving crankbait.
Hope that answered your questions.

here in new york the striper season is just getting started right now you can fish in the hudson they are swimming upriver to spawn they are catching small fish under 28"blood and sand worms are the bait.in april the season starts for the rest of the state again worms but clam belly, bunkerand herring are also used.alot of guys plug for em with bottle neck poppers swimming and diving plugs anther trick is to use bucktails with an uncle josh pork rind.does that help:tongue:

no prob glad to help.Down your way i would prob use gizzard shads cuts or whole small ones.from shore heres a killer rig ssetup.Slip a fishfinder clip on put a bead then tie a blood knot to swivel.from swivel tie a 3-4' leader of 20#flourocarbon to a #6/0 circle hook add bait.cast out from shore put in rod holder and waitwhen fish strikes resit hurge to set hook, slowly reel up the circle hook will set itself in the corner of fishes mouth. This set up will catch anything that swims ENJOY:thumbup:
