Cougs, both good choices, but you really need to ask Frontier Gander, he owns a bunch of muzz ldrs, many CVA's including 1 or 2 Wolfs, I think he could be much help in your quest for your first ML rifle.

I don't have a TC Impact, but I have many ML rifles and still would go with the TC rifle, however, CVA has made big strides recently and most likely would give the TC a run for it's money. Both will serve you in the hunting arena for as long as you take good care of the barrel. What's the price difference between them? FG, has been playing with TC rifles of late so he's not totally a CVA guy. I wouldn't count out Traditions rifles either.

Out of your choices, I wouldn't hesitate getting the impact, the impact is clearly the better weapon for your money.
I'd also suggest looking at the Traditions Muzzleloaders.
Traditions muzzleloaders offer greater & improved features over both the cva wolf and the tc impact.
Good Luck on whichever muzzleloader you choose.

BP means blackpowder and I see that you already sent Frontier Gander a message, I'm sure he will get back to you. I just looked at both of them at BassPro a couple weeks ago, they are both nice. Both CVA and Traditions guns are imported from the same gun company in Spain, I think the company name is Ardesa. T/C introduced the Impact as a way for a guy to get T/C quality at an entry level price. Like Bruce said, CVA has made big strides in the quality of their guns, as has Traditions. The 2 things I've seen between the two are the "open-close" function on the Impact is a bit awkward and it does not have a hand turn breech plug as does the Wolf, although for me that is not much of an issue, it only takes a second to take it out with the wrench. You need to go where they have them both, handle them both and see which one feels better to you for whatever reason. That's about all the help I can give you. Let us know what you think after you have made your choice.

110gr blackhorn209, MMP HPH24 Sabot, 260gr Harvester Scorpion PT Gold. TACK driver at 100 yards! At 160yards they are around 1 1/2" group.

Oh shoot, You're 15. If you are a husky 15 year old, that load will be fine LOL. Its a bit of a thumper.

What loads are you shooting now?

I was 14 when i got my first black powder firearm so i know what you will be going through with the wrong help. I didn't have the net back then and learned it on my own and through some books. Mostly trial and error and a lot of $$$!
