One More Guide Trip

I retired from guiding in 2005. On January 15, I will again put on my guide hat for a special cause.

I got a phone call a while ago from the owner of White Oak Plantation in AL. Once a monster, 21,000 acre hunting operation, White Oak closed most of its doors two years ago. It is no longer open to the public. But on January 15, some of the doors will be reopened.

A young man, I'll not name him here, has a severe form of cerebral palsy. His wish is to go hunting and he asked for me to be his guide. A stand large enough to accomodate his wheel chair and me has been built in a prime spot at White Oak and various companies have outfitted him with the latest clothing and equipment. I am honored to have been asked and happy to oblige.

I will get that young man a deer and tell him every story I know.

Well said......

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the outcome of the vote.

What he said ! ! !

Our hearts go out to this young man and you for 'volunteering' one more time.
It's stories like this that need to go out to all who have it in for hunters.

Lightbulb I loved following th

I loved following this capmnig trip on instagram! The pictures you took are absolutely gorgeous. And Bally looks totally at home in the wilderness! I haven't been capmnig since my girl scout days, when we stayed in cabins! I think I'm overdue for a real capmnig trip.

Boy, where you been? Time for us to take Brady fishing again. Trip went well but I had to put up with Matt and Joe. Da and Sukey looking the best they have in a while and the fish were hitting behind the lodge, too. I thought you might be down for the hunt.

My health has improved considerably. I am a long way from where I was but I am out of danger, at least for the time being. I'll be back down in the spring for some bass fishing and more grapefruit juice. Come join us.

Stay in touch.

Auto, if he has to explain, you wouldn't understand. Might help to read the first or all the posts.
