Spiker, I agree somewhat, I just think/hope something could work so I let them try things. Like the rest of us old farts on the bad days we lay around and on the good days we just lay around less.
My wife use to get the epadral blocks, but two years ago she went through the surgery and had a pain pump put in. Now she gets it refilled by a shot once a month. Best thing she has ever done !!
Pretty cool with all the things available. One guy at work has an isulin pump that be adjusted. Advances come along all the time, we just have to weigh the benefits from the drawbacks. Pain is a bad thing to wake up to everyday a lot of people learn to deal with it, others need help just to function. This is one area that isn't mind over matter for a lot of us.
