compliments to venison

When preparing venison, what is your favorite side dish, add in compliment, drink or spice/herb to make the meal what it is?

if not your favorite at least one that first comes to mind.

One thing that mama likes to do with a nice venison roast is to get a big turkey roaster, put the venison roast on one side and a beef roast on the other. Add potatoes, onions, carrots, etc.

They cross flavor each other and the results are mouth watering . . .

Well I commented on a deer roast in the recipe area someone asked about but my number one hard to beat is
fried back straps
Cut in thin strips
Soke cuts in milk in fridge for about n hou
Batter in ky kernel season flour
Fry
Serve with white gravy as a dipper and mash potatoes and of corse a cold budweiser.

I like backstrap topped with sautéed mushrooms. Fresh green beans from the garden topped with shaved almonds or other nuts make a great side dish. Then there is always mashed taters and gravy.

Another favorite is a roast slow cooked in a crock pot with whole potatoes, carrots and cabbage. Toss in a couple of garlic cloves and an onion or two to complete.

I marinate the back straps then pin Amish bacon to them and grille to med/med rare and serve with just about any kind of potato or rice side. Of forgot the Molson Golden ale as a wash down!

did tenderloins today in weber peppercorn marinade w/red wine vinegar. broccoli
and rice and also cneese n noodles and a big glass of ice tea.

I love slow smoked steaks you need to cut them thicker then normal
with sliced garlic & sweet baby ray's bbq sauce, grilled corn on the cob, & salted potatoes & of course Sam Adams
