home cooking

so not trying to take money away from locker but they are over 30 miles away and this year money is tight , i already had a meat grinder and a slicer so i went to hyvee and bought a jerky mix , ground up my meat and had my wife season the steaks , my friends tasted the jerky and could not believe it was deer meat , one guy who says i give away my deer , dont really like deer that much says darn can you make some for me , i said sure i will do all the work and i keep have the meat/jerky he says sure so he gives me a huge 10 pointer minus the head he is having it mounted , i age the deer for a week and just gave him his half , very happy i might add , thats is cool , not trying to take away buisness from local guy but several have said it tastes better than they have ever had , the jerky is the pepper flavor , the steaks my wife makes her own , she really can marinaid , it help that she is asian , nothing better . just thought i would share .

In A bind for a deer

I am from Baton rouge Lousiana and having a hard time finding a deer this year, I would like to join a club in another state any ideas? I don't want to venture too far away I just need a good peaceful place to hunt.

many of us this found hunting slim this year. Finding hunting property is always a challange. I'm not familiar with your state on deer numbers but Texas seems to have plenty. Its gonna take some reshearch and hopefully maybe someone here can point you in the right direction. Its good to start now securing a place for this fall. Good luck to you!
