GPS Info?

I've got a 13 year old Garmin 12XL which works great, but am thinking about getting a new model. I would like one that does auto-routing and shows topography. Took a look at a Garmin Venture HCX which comes in a kit with topo map CD that can be loaded into the GPS. Just wondering if anyone had any info on this unit or any advice about these newer GPS models.

i'm lost when it comes to GPS gadgets. I asked Delormem about the ones that hook to your computer and show the USGS maps as well as aerial photos and they were working on it. i think they have them now but i don't know who makes it for them.

Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I understand.
