A deserved message

I leave soon and head to my hunting accommodations. Yes I did as much research as I could. Unfortunately I relayed to much info to the party because now when I reach the area I located ther will be 4 tree stands, numerous scouting trails and 7 days of previous hunting of black powder and archery played out on the spot I located. I guess there there was some very good sign there when I told a relative to check it out for me. Live and learn jac a!!

Live and learn is correct! My neighbor to the east hunts and we talk occasionally throughout the years. He always brings up hunting and if I had seen any good bucks. The answer, every year, is "nothing huge, just small bucks in small bachelor groups". I NEVER share my trail cam pics UNLESS he or his family shoots a buck that I have a picture of. I don't think he has picked up on what I do... but hunting is a competition where I hunt. Sort of like poker. I'm not going to show my cards to the guy I'm playing against!

Thanks, you made me smile today. And laugh at myself. I realize now that I can use the situation to my advantage thanks.

It is poker, but it can be taken to extremes. I always chuckle when I ask someone where they got a deer and they get super-secretive. One lady just said "Uh, Admiralty Island". Now Admiralty Island is the size of Rhode Island, and everyone here hunts there. So even if you narrowed it down a little, that's still a big wide area to stomp around on.

It's truly a shame that some hunters feel a need to "horn in" on a spot known to be good and take advantage of other hunters' comments. We no longer say anything positive about our Kentucky lease and try, also, to keep pictures of our harvests away from "those" hunters.

Yup, it's a darn shame people are like that........:ranting:

Harvgrove feel your pain we rely on a lot of info on the net & locals when we hunt NY & find the same thing this is why we look at it more as a vacation then a hunting trip. I share very little info when hunting here in NH for that very reason sticks I don't want to be that way but you tell one & he tells a friend & it never ends

Thanks for the comments, I'm back from two weeks of adventure and it was a great time in the woods.
