Trade question
brother-in-law wants to make a deal with me. He has a new in the box a Savage 111 Trophy xp with a Nikon 3x9 in 204 cal. He wants my 40 cal Sig 2022 model and $100.00. I checked on line and the Savage package is $500.00 plus 30 for shipping and 30 transfer fee. The Sig is around $500.00. Thoughts anyone? I'm not overly excited at this moment and usually my first impression is what I go on.

Thoughts: Do you need or want a .204, and do you like the Savage platform? Since the Savage package price equals the Sig package price, what is the rationale for the extra $100? Because the Sig is used and the Savage is new? But you can turn the table and say the Sig is "desireable" since he wants it, and the Savage package doesn't hold that value for you.

I'm not a fan of the Savage rifle series, so IMHO you're trading from high to low. Also weighing heavily is whether you need a .204-cal platform?

My answer: trade even or not at all.

Keep the Sig Hm. The savage will never appreciate in value and the Sig is a quality piece. And if you do trade you better okay it with your son:w00t:

ya I know, I actually made the HK trade so the son got the Sig and son-in-law got the HK. Both in 40 cal so they don't have to fight over that. My gut said not a good trade. Thanks Spiker always appreciate the back up!!! Scorpian8, the Sig is unfired also, I too am not a big fan of new Savage products. I do however think the Savage 99 is one of history's all time greats!
