Things here at DHC seem to be strange with the new owners and their lack of direction or participation with the site, so it seems like we are mostly on our own. If any member has some input into how to make the site grow please let us, the moderators, know. After the sale of the site, we have tried to contact the owners for input or ideas and have gotten nothing. I worry for the future of DHC as I have made many on-line friends here, over the years, and would miss the daily activities and conversations. It is my hope that we continue DHC in the fine tradition of a family oriented outdoors site where all are welcome and highly appreciated for their contributions! Wish I could predict the future but being mostly mortal,, I have no idea where this road will take us. So for now.....
Merry Christmas to all, be safe, and remember FAMILY is what really matters in this life! HM

My question is this... why do we "need" them to continue this website? Yeah they own it, but maybe it's in our best interest as members to leave them be. That's just my thought. I'm not saying I didn't like Buckfever's input and all the contests and everything- I thought that was great. But what's done is done and if they want to be silent let 'em be silent. They aren't hurting me and the website is still up and running.
Now that said, I am not a mod and therefore do not know of any issues that may need to be resolved. So where HM is coming from may not be known by myself.

As long as the owners aren't saying "no", then you're free to advance the purpose of the site as the Moderators best see fit. I moderate an audio forum, and know the challenges of growth. Getting the word out there is the best way, and I know that Google can be used to raise keywords higher in a search priority such as "deer hunting". Seriously though, your hardest issue is relevance: how many other forums out there have hunting sub-forums? What makes yours better? How can you increase traffic: contests, advertising, word-of-mouth, cross-link a banner to other related forums? What niche do you fulfill?

Thanks HM for sticking around. I was nervous initially after the sale as this forum is much more than a place to dicuss hunting to me. It really is a family and there are many friendships I have here. Keep up the good work mods!!!

I for one am glad to see that our current bunch of moderators have "stuck with us" and are helping to keep the site running bout as smoothly as humanly possible.
My thanks go out to all of you!
