Cover scented chewing gum?

Just saw this stuff the other day and wanted to hear some opinions about it. Anyone ever tried it and believe it works or is it a total farce?

ive never tried it. simply because i dip copenhagen and dont want to chew the gum in between my addiction to tobacco. as much of a scent control hunter that i am, the smokeless tobacco is my one downfall. i dont spit on the ground or anything like that. i just take that chance that they want smell it before i can shoot em. i need to just quit then i wouldn't have to worry about it.

I'm sure thats the case with plenty of hunters. I'm not even sure that breath matters that much unless it is something strong like cigarettes or alcohol possibly.

my uncle never goes out in the woods with out it. i dont know if it works but it wint hurt so why not give it a try.

I killed a doe last year chewing it. But, I haven't used it this year and probably won't again. Just like every other gum it loses its flavor very quickly so it makes you wonder how effective it is once the flavor loss has happened. What I've been doing this year is just breathing out my nose. I don't believe your nose carries anywhere near the bacteria of your mouth.

BTW, I don't believe the smell of cigarettes(smoke), smokeless tobacco, or alchohol will really effect deer. I believe its the movement of smoking and the movement of spitting that would catch the deer's eyes before the smell would startle them.

Everyone gives more credit than a deer deserves for their intelligence!

I've heard of it but never did try it. They carry it at Dicks Sporting Goods out here. There's also a pill to take now too. It says destroy odor from the inside. I seen the ad in one of my books.

It would be interesting to read some of the science behind this pill in an effort to further understand it. If you find a link will you pass it on to me.

Odor, is afterall cause by the growth of bacteria, so if you can keep the bacteria from growing then you keep the odor from starting. IF that pill can do that, that would be awesome.

I used to be a smoker (2 packs of full flavored Marlboro a day)...
Quit smoking (cold turkey) 6 years ago,, THANK GOD I quit... I won't preach about it BUT smoking is bad bad bad news....
As a smoker I used to see deer BUT as a NON SMOKER,, I EASILY see 10 times as many deer as I used to see....

Hunting Tip: it's Smokeless tobacco it's NOT odorless !!!
Flavored chew (wintergreen especially) that's some strong smell...

you don't think Deer can smell Alcohol? lets say someone downs a 5th of Vodka or a case of Budweiser and drives up to a State Cop and asks him for Directions... Think that Cops little nose will detect a little alcohol smell? If a cop can smell it don't ya think a Deer might have the edge on smelling abilities?

You question A Deer's Intelligence? YET you're the one that's using smoke to try to cover your smell, you're the one worried about your movements and you're the one breathing out your nose so they can't catch wind of your foul breath you're dressing in special clothing, hiding in tree stands, you always walk slowly and quietly..... and you Question A DEER'S Intelligence??? a DEERS? yeah,,,, how smart can they be?

i liked your hunting tip bruce. yeah smokeless does not mean oderless. and what i dip has a very strong smell. everytime i open the can in the woods i am hopeing a deer dont walk up right then. the smell would knock him down. just a stupid habit i started when i was younger. i just haven't had the desire to quit yet. im so addicted if i had to choose between getting a shot on a nice buck or not get dip for a month. i think i would choose to spit baccer juice and pass on the nice buck. thats sad isnt it?

no the sad part is how the makers get you addicted to the crap.... that's whats sad...
people always blame themselves for being addicted, It isn't a habit, it's an addiction and I blame the makers...

But the stuff does have odors and it does play a roll during the hunt..
Your experience gives you a hunting chance that's what is going to help you,,,
Just remember, IF you keep the wind in your favor you're good as gold..

Not all Hunters agree and thats ok too but a lot of us know a little about how deer operate and what it takes to get them...
