makeing a bow?
 

Hi there just wondering how many make their own bows?(longbow) I'm just getting started in this and would like some advice. i.e. types of wood, and equipment that you all use. I've done alot of wood working on rifle stocks and am an avid hunter looking for a new project to fill my idle hands.

I have a guy at work that has been makin longbows and recurves a long time.I will get his website and put it in this post for ya if I can find it.

my science teacher made string from a vine that he wound together wit ha contraption on a power driller...its a 70 pund draw

I made a long bow last year with the directions from an old fox fire book. i stuck a strong piece of bamboo in a home made mold and let it dry there for bout a month. i got a hold of some jug fishing string and drilled a hole through each end till it was pretty taught. turns out 7 months later i'm still shootin with it and it's got a 45 lb draw weight. Bamboo is really quiet too!
