In Texas more and more counties are going to antler restrictions.I think this will help our QDM overall. The countie where my lease is in eastern Texas did it last year. Before we were a one buck countie with any deer with an antler being legal.Last year they went to a two buck countie one of which must have at least a 13" inside spread(outside the ears) the second one must have at least one unbranched(spike) antler. This should make hunters pass on the younger bucks.
Soon we should be seeing more quality racks as these young bucks are allowed to grow up.

in tennessee we have no restrictions as of yet. if it is buck only the buck only has to have at least 3 inches of horn for it to be legal.

here (NY) a legal buck has to have a 3" antler but some counties have antler restrictionsIts a trial thing for qdm . the takes were down the last 2 yrs so hopefully they be some monster bucks walking around.I just got an invite to hunt 400 acres of prime private property this season.hopefully kill a big buck with my new muzzy broadheads im buying with my winnings:biggrin:

even though we have a restriction of 3 inches when it is buck only. during all the seasons of buck or doe it is still okay to shoot a button buck.

congrats joel on the new hunting spot. im sure alot of people would pay good money for that.

I don't belong to QDMA. The hunting club I belong to is near Vicksburg, Ms. The landowner has a rule that a buck may be harvested and must have a minimum 18 inch inside spread . Number of points does not matter. He will bend the rule. If a deer has good mass and long tines, he does not impose the $ 500 fine' I killed an 8 point with only 16 inch inside spread in Jan 2007 that I was not fined for. I have a picture posted on this site.
