NH I have news for you your breath, mine and anyone else's is the largest problem. Yes every little bit helps but if you do not play the wind 100% a deer WILL smell you. It has been proven that a deer can tell you have been there just by the disturbance your foot steps leave in the leaves. The most recent article regarding this is in Field & Stream August 2009 p.24. There are many others but I can't put my finger on them without turning my library upside down. Yes I take all precautions I can about scent control but you can never eliminate your scent 100% or even close. Playing the wind and avoiding deer trails is the only thing that will truthfully increase your odds for a mature whitetail. Most all of the scent control talk is hype to sell product. Do they work?---- yes---- but not nearly to the degree they lead you to believe. Do I use the products? ---yes--- But do not sell good woodsman ship short. All of these products are expensive and truth be told are not really necessary if you use good common sense and play the wind. Most hunters do not give enough respect to a deer's nose.

I agree with wmi, we're never going to be "scent free" but taking every step possible to try to reduce our scent will help create a greater edge when trying to hunt.

tucking our pant-legs in reduces some of our dead skin from falling out onto our trails and also helps to reduce any body scents from escaping from open pant legs.
