Hey and welcome to the site. I dont crossbow hunt but if I did I would just go about hunting it the same as anything else, except how close you need to be to the deer. Have you ever hunted with a compound bow? With a bow its all about getting close. I concentrate on food areas during early bow season. The 1 advantage you will have with a crossbow is the fact that you should be able to make a little farther shot than with a regular bow.

For us to help you out we really need to know a few more things.

Is this your first year hunting or is this just your first experience with a bow?

i have hunted for the past couple years mostly just black powder. this is the first year with bow. right now i set up my blind about 25 yards from my field with alfalfa in it which they've been eating in.

well your in a good state to hunt ..the cross bow may shoot a little further than a bow but it is all close,,,the only advantage is you are sitting on ready...know your yardage...and site in that bow..
