Help! TOO MUCH GLUE!

I just started bow hunting last year. This year I have two dozen new arrows and I "followed the directions" and put a lot of glue in the arrow followed by the broadhead insert. Now I have glue inside the insert and my broadheads will obviously not go in. WHAT DO Y'ALL SUGGEST? I have heard to melt the glue out with a lighter or pull insert out after heating with a blowdryer. Tried the blowdryer and had no success.

propane torch should do it.are they carbon or aluminum ?

a little glue goes a looooooong way. It depends on the type of glue used if heat will melt it. If it was heated in the beginning of the process you're in luck. You have to be very carefull using a propane torch, keep the flame very low and move the arrow back and forth across the insert area. With a practice broadhead inserted just pull the glued insert out with a pair of plyers. You may still have a glue mess inside the arrow shaft so be carefull when installing the new insert as there is probably plenty of glue still in there. Just a dab will do ya! Epoxy glues may be a problem???

I wanted to respond but I kept laughing. (I did it once too) HM is right. Your arrows might not ever fly consistant because of large amouts of glue in the shaft. I hope they are alum. because if they are carbon you cannot heat them up enough to get the extra weight out of the shaft. I feel for you on this one. Been there done that.

If you do get the inserts out, make sure you spin test each arrow/broadhead combination taking out the wobbly ones. It sounds like you have plenty of glue in the shafts so just heat the shafts to melt the remaining glue and install the NEW inserts. Just make sure they are bonded. Then shoot each arrow separating out the bad fliers. Hopefully, this works and you get enough good arrows to hunt with. Good luck and now you join the ranks of the experienced arrow makers club.
