Shot distance

Got discused else where & really making me think now
as I have stated in the past. I try to shoot my bow everyday at least a 1-2 doz per day every day all year long. I practice out to 70 yards (personally I will not take that shot)
last year I took a doe @53 yards I was confident I would make that shot & I did deer went less then 60 yards it seemed like an easy shot to me situation was perfect no wind wide open trail ect..
well long story short elsewhere on the net guy is getting bashed for wanting to be able to take a 50 yard shot next year he knows he isn't ready this year so he wanted to know what he should do to be able to make that shot
I know the risk is higher at a longer distance but personally I think it is up to the ability of the shooter to determine what distance he/she should shoot at
what do you think about it & just looking to what is the longest shot you will take mine is 55-60 yards

There are bow hunters that can and do made 50 yd shots. For 95% of bow hunters a 50 yd shot is probably not a good shot. My shots are different due to equipment. 40 yds for crossbow, 30 yds for compound. I shoot 99% of my deer under 25 yds. For those who practice and (know) the shot to be taken is a good one, 50yds is with-in the killing range of fast, flat shooting, modern bows.

I'm crossbow 30 to 40 yrds is my norm kill zone
A 49 yrds shot was my biggest buck kill to date

I am confident shooting up to 40 yards at the target, and I suppose if all the conditions were right I would take that shot on a deer. I try to set up for the 15-25 yard shot though.

with my compound bow 30yds would be my max, even though I try to keep them as short as possable. With my crossbow I have taken a deer at 53yds,but do try to keep them to 30yds and under all though I can push it out further if needed

If everything is right, I'll take a 50 yard shot. I've done it before with success. Normally I like to keep my shots around 30.
