Yeah the one I got is feature-packed, Is it all necessary? probably not as a GPS but my old eye's likes that big color display LOL, and I wanted the mapping feature also BUT the basic GPS's all have high ratings and all work well to get you in and back out of the woods.
I have no doubt the Venture will work great also because Phillip (girlfriends son) has the Etrex H series it's exactly like The Venture, it's simple, basic and easy to learn ...
So If you dont need the fancy bells and whistles I'd say go for it.
