nope never got to try it. seen a show about it on tv and it looked like it would be an exciting as all get out fun time. it looks like it would take me a while to get quick enough with my bow to hit the fish though.
I have always loved bowfishing I have been at it for 10 years now, I would love to go somewhere down south that has aligator gar or even go bowfishing for mahi mahi or something like that. I mostly bowfish for carp here in washington. Bowfishing is a good way to get in shape for the regular season as well.
I went out a couple weeks ago...shot a bunch of carp and long-nose gar. Nothing too big this time, but it is alot of fun. I was shooting out of the kayak this time...adds a little to the challenge. Saw something really neat while I was out too...a huge (probably >100lb) alligator snapping turtle. He was in about 2 feet of water and the ribs of his shell were right at the surface. I got to paddle my kayak right up next to him and follow for a while...another one of those unforgettable outdoor experiences.
seen some guys bow fishing carp out of the fields here, the lake is up and flooded into the farmers fields and these guys are wadding knee deep and having a blast.
