This is very true HM... but God promised never again to flood the entire earth... thus the reason we have Rainbows... they are a indication of this promise God made. I realize you probably know that already-- but with all this sin in our world, it makes me think the day of Jesus' return is near. I can only hope for that.... how awesome that day would be to experience! Either way I'll experience it,,, but it would be neat if I were alive on this thing called earth when it happens! Our country is falling apart. SOO many people talk about how our political system is pathetic (and I agree) but the real fact is that our family structures are what's failing. It all starts in the home. I sometimes wonder how our world would look if divorce was not an option. How different it would be. The thing that so many adults don't realize is that their stance on issues influences their children SO much. That's why when a major disagreement comes up within a marriage today, so many people choose the socially acceptable choice.. divorce.
I pray daily that God will help me to raise my kids in a way that puts Him first. My 4 year old has been starting to ask some very specific questions about God and Jesus and as his father, I need to be prepared for that- that's not something I can just blow off. After all our sole purpose here on earth is to lift God's name up and tell others about Jesus. I'm in no way saying I'm the model Christian. I have my flaws and I commit sin daily. But at the same time I understand that sin happens, sin is in our lives. Every human being ever born has committed sin, except one... Jesus. Now, I'm not saying that since we know we're sinners that it's ok to go ahead and sin. NO. God wants us to repent from our sins, he wants us to try to be like His Son. The truth is though, we'll never be perfect and we'll never be without sin. We are not Jesus. If you read this article close enough, sounded like this mom thought her son was perfect. I too get caught up sometimes thinking my children are innocent... but the truth is, they too are sinners. The problem arises when we, as parents, hold our kids up so high that they block out God. We start "worshiping" them and not God and His Son. Thus making our children idols. I love my children to death. I love them probably more than anything in this world. I also love my wife and my family with all my heart as well, they are very, very dear to me. But NOTHING stands between my strongest love of all for Jesus Christ and my Lord and Savior.
...and on that day when my strength is failing, the end draws near and my times has come, still my soul will sing Your praise unending, ten thousand years and then forevermore!
