the weight forward technology arrows? I have, and IMO I say stay away from them.Last season I got a pack almost $100.Them things were all over the place. On pass thrus or a miss they would bury into the the ground on angle and under the grass never to be seen again, not like the regular carbon arrows that would just stick and stay. There is something funny about them WFT arrows that makes them screwy.IMO they aint worth a plug nickle
I understand the principal behind them(supposedly) but never figured that they would be any better than conventional carbons. I'm glad to hear they're a waste of money before I wasted money on them.
I've had a Ten Point Elite, shooting 125 Spitfire mechanicals since '95. I Hunt from a ground blind off a bait pile at 30 yards. I've harvested 8-10 standing (still) and broadside deer. However, due to lack of blood trail on leaves I've lost 5-6 deer. I now hunt mainly over snow to avoid that.
The best theory on blood loss I've come up with is that the bolt deflects from the area of impact (lungs) radically enough to travel through the intestines and on exiting carries out enough intestines to plug the exit hole, thus restricting blood flow.
With all the deer I've harvested (or wounded) the bolt has passed completely through, landing well on the other side.
Because of the deer I've tracked and retrieved over snow I've written off the following offered theories: The deer are moving from the bolt release sound but I just don't see it. The blades on the Spitfire didn't open. My bow string is stretched and the bolt is not flying straight. I would welcome any other theories.
No problem with blood trails here. 2 reasons:#1 none have gone far enough to get out of my site.#2 using muzzy 3 blade BHs a blind man could follow the blood trail, they gush blood after the muzzys get them. As for your arrows deflecting when hitting bone I would think IMORNO you need to change BHs. My muzzys will go thru both shoulder no problem. I had a buck come out just before dark.He would not turn to give me broadside shot.At 25yds I stuck him center of his chest and arrow came out left ham. He went straight up and straight back down DRT
Sorry this post got over on your thread Hellbilly. It was my first one and I goofed.
And Thanks for the input. Man, am I ever getting the picture on the Muzzy's!
You're the 4th. one who has told me the same thing!
